1st Dornbirn-GFC Startup-Days
Ananas Anam 
The startup Ananas Anam, London/UK, founded by Dr. Carmen Hijosa in 2013, developed Piñatex, a branded sustainable material designed according to the principles of the circular economy.
Piñatex is a natural plant-based leather like material made from pineapple leaf fiber. The product is positioned in the market as a new material in the same scope as leather and its synthetic alternatives. Piñatex is currently being used by designers across the world to create products from footwear and fashion to furniture and automotive interiors.
The startup was presented at the 1st Startup-Days of the 58th Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress (Dornbirn GFC) in Dornbirn/Austria from September 11-12, 2019.
